True Citrus products don't have an expiration date but a "best-used-by" date. After this date, our products are still safe to use but start to lose their flavor potency. It can be found at the bottom of the box under the UPC code. It is stamped into the box and reflects a date two years from when the product was produced. For example, a best used date of "040517 1 111" means that the product was produced on April 5, 2015 and is best used by April 5, 2017. The "1 111" that follow the date represent internal lot numbers.
All True Citrus products have a shelf life of two years if unopened. Once you open a packet, the shelf life is only a couple of days.

True Products Ingredient & Manufacturing Question

David Schleider, who spent three years creating and perfecting True Lemon, is a chef by training and a long time lemon-lover. However, David found that he was often frustrated with lemons: they are inconsistent in taste, messy to use, spoil easy, and inconvenient. And from a chef's point of view, they are labor-intensive and David often wanted the taste of fresh lemons without adding unnecessary liquid.

David believed other people had to be equally frustrated with lemons and he believed he could do what no one else had done up to that point: find a way to duplicate authentic, fresh-squeezed lemon taste but in a crystallized, shelf-stable manner that was convenient to use anytime, anywhere. And, after a lot of hard work and long nights, David did just that.

We think if you try True Lemon, you'll taste for yourself why True Lemon is a fabulous alternative to fresh lemons.
All True Citrus products are made with lemon, lime, orange, or grapefruit juices and oils and contain simple and clean ingredients. They have no artificial sweeteners, flavors, preservatives, sodium or gluten.
True Lemon's ingredients are the same as found in a lemon: Citric Acid, Lemon Juice, Lemon Oil.
True Lemon is made from real lemon juices and oils. True Lemon behaves identically to fresh lemon juice when using in water, drinks, beverages and when using in recipes.
The organic dried cane syrup is used as a bulking agent in True Lime and True Orange but it doesn't add any sweetness (and is equal to the amount of naturally occurring fructose found in a wedge of fresh limes or oranges). Because there is such a small amount of organic dried cane syrup in each True Lime or True Orange packet, the FDA still considers it to be an unsweetened product with 0 calories and 0g carbs.
Lemon oils and juices are cold-pressed and crystallized which locks in the lemon's fresh-squeezed taste. Because of this, True Lemon always delivers consistent, fresh-squeezed lemon taste and we believe True Lemon tastes better than any lemon you can find in the store: fresh, frozen, or juice.
"Cold-pressed" means the lemons' oils and juices were pressed without using heat so the optimal flavor would be maintained. "Crystallized" means the lemon oils and juices that are extracted during the cold-pressing process are then crystallized to capture their taste at the peak of freshness.

No, maltodextrin does not turn to sugar once ingested. It is made up of strands of glucose and is digested as glucose in the body.

(For those interested, glucose is the body’s preferred source of energy. Your body processes most carbohydrates you eat into glucose, either to be used immediately for energy or to be stored in muscle cells or the liver as glycogen for later use. Unlike fructose, insulin is secreted primarily in response to elevated blood concentrations of glucose, and insulin facilitates the entry of glucose into cells.

Sugar comes in the form of fructose or sucrose. Fructose is a sugar that is naturally found in many fruits and vegetables and is often added to soda and fruit-flavored beverages. The body treats fructose differently than other sugars because it has a different metabolic pathway and is not the preferred energy source for your muscles or your brain. It is also more fat-producing than glucose which is why healthcare professional suggest limiting high intakes of dietary fructose. Sucrose is generally known as table sugar and comes from sugar cane, sugar beets, fruits and vegetables. The body separates sucrose into individual units of glucose and fructose. The glucose is used for your body’s energy while the unneeded fructose will be poured into fat synthesis.)
While all of our manufacturing is done in the United States, as a global food manufacturing company, we utilize a number of sources from outside the United States to provide us with some of our raw materials. Absolutely (and that’s great)! Because of our gentle encapsulation, we are able to maintain the delicate flavonoids (including Limonene) that are naturally found in citrus oils. Flavonoids are a group of plant metabolites thought to provide health benefits through cell signaling pathways and antioxidant effects. These molecules are found in a variety of fruits and vegetables. Limonene is found in citrus peels/rinds and is the thing that makes oranges and lemons smell orangey and lemony.

We have heard from literally thousands of people who say True Lemon helps them drink more water. (Some people say it's the only way they drink water!) 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. A 2013 survey of 3,003 Americans found that although Americans drank about 8 servings of hydrating beverages per day (including coffee, tea and soda), a significant portion of this is offset by drinking caffeinated beverages and eating a high sodium diet (both of which cause a net fluid loss).

True Lemon is a great way to help your employees drink more water naturally. We have literally heard from thousands of people who have said that because of True Lemon they have given up drinking sodas and other high-sugared or artificially sweetened beverages, both of which contribute to weight gain. First, we always recommend that you speak to your healthcare provider when considering health solutions for specific conditions.

Second, while we have never run any trials to test True Lemon's effectiveness in helping to treat kidney stones, an urologist in North Carolina conducted a month-long study of some of his kidney stone patients. Half of his patients used fresh lemon and the other half used True Lemon (the doctor provided the True Lemon.) After a month, he looked at pH balance and found the results were exactly the same for both groups of patients. So, True Lemon had the same effect as fresh lemon, but the patients using True Lemon thought it was more convenient and easier to use than fresh lemon.

Finally, we have heard from many people who have kidney stones and have successfully incorporated True Lemon into their treatment program. Again, we always recommend discussing treatment options with your healthcare provider.
